Entegris, founded in 1966, is a global leader in advanced materials science, providing process solutions and advanced materials for the semiconductor industry. It supports semiconductor manufacturers in contamination control, fluid management, specialty materials and substrate handling. Offerings include filtration products, liquid systems which control and analyze process fluids, gas delivery systems, specialty deposition and cleaning chemicals, advanced packaging materials and advanced components for semiconductor manufacture. It also provides specialty materials like graphite, silicon carbide and coatings for chips.
Entegris creates products suitable for metrology, photolithography, assembly and packaging, wafer handling and etching.
In 2022, Entegris acquired CMC Materials through a $6.5 billion deal, and in doing so added a new Advanced Planarization Solutions (APS) division to its operating model, offering end-to-end chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) solutions. CMC Materials is a leading supplier of advanced materials for semiconductor manufacturing, including chemical-mechanical planarization products and electronic materials.
In 2023, the company opened a new 54,000 square-meter manufacturing facility in Southern Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Science Park, investing around $500 million to significantly the production capabilities for advanced liquid filters, high-purity drums, and advanced deposition materials. The facilities automation and advanced manufacturing capabilities were designed to reduce waste, decrease water and energy consumption, and increase the use of renewably sourced electricity.
In 2023, Entegris also began construction of a $600 million manufacturing centre of excellence in Colorado Springs, and in 2024 the project announced $75 million in funding from the US CHIPS act, with operation expected to begin in 2025. The centre will support production for Entegris’ Microcontamination Control (MC) and Advanced Materials Handling (AM, allowing the company to better support their US customers.
