Soitec is an international supplier of material for the semiconductor industry, with manufacturing activities in Europe, Singapore and the US. The primary product of this company is Silicon-On-Insulator wafers which are supplied to companies such as Samsung and GlobalFoundries. In 2020, Soitec signed a multi-year agreement with GlobalFoundries for the supply of 300mm RF-SOI wafers.

In November 2021, Soitec announced both the acquisition of wafer polishing firm NOVASiCand a strategic partnership with electronics and advanced materials expert Mersen. The acquisition, which is expected to close by end-2021, will strengthen Soitec’s silicon carbide offering, while the Mersen collaboration targets the development of new polycrystalline silicon carbide substrates for the electric vehicles market.
