Exxon Mobil Corporation is a global integrated energy and chemicals company with upstream oil and gas, refining and petrochemicals operations. Within its chemicals business, the company produces a range of industrial solvents and specialty chemicals used across manufacturing sectors, including microelectronics and semiconductors.

Exxon Mobil is investing in its Baton Rouge, Louisiana chemical complex to expand production of ultra-high-purity isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for semiconductor manufacturing applications. The company has produced IPA for more than a century and began producing 99.99% purity IPA suitable for semiconductor manufacturing in 1992. The Baton Rouge expansion will enable production of IPA at purities up to 99.999%, meeting the tightening requirements for wafer cleaning and processing in advanced semiconductor fabrication. The investment, reported at over $100 million, is intended to increase domestic supply capacity as new semiconductor fabrication facilities are developed in the United States.
