Ultrapure water treatment systems are high consumers of energy, and semiconductor yield is directly affected by water purity. Existing separation methods have unavoidable trade-offs in robustness and energy efficiency. Pressure-driven distillation offers an alternative option that has high energy efficiency, high contaminant removal and can withstand harsh chemicals. This presentation outlines the suitability of membranes and pressure-driven distillation for ultrapure water production.
