Cooling towers are often the largest source of consumptive water loss at fabs, especially in hot, arid locations, and the water lost in the plume is typically never recovered. This presentation shares three years of results from a Las Vegas project that fed warm, humid cooling tower exhaust to an atmospheric water generator. It examines how air-water density and cooling tower fan speed affect production and energy intensity, discusses operating strategies to reduce the cost of recovered water, and shows that the recovered water quality falls between UPW and typical makeup water.
